"Please connect to the internet and try again" error occurs when I have a valid GameSpring subscription

Allow GameSpring sites and games in your firewall or Internet security software

If you have blocked any of the following in your firewall or Internet security software, you will be unable to access the games. Please contact that software’s customer support for assistance in allowing these sites and executables in your firewall or security software.

·         “downloads.gamehouse.com”

·         “*.gamehouse.com”

·         The game executable file

To allow the game executable in Windows Firewall, follow the steps below.

Step 1

Close any Internet browser windows that are open.

Step 2

Click Start, point to Settings, and click Control Panel. In Windows XP, click View all Control Panel Options in the left section of the window to show all the Control Panel icons. In Windows Vista, click Show all items.

Step 3

Double-click Security or Security Center.

Step 4

Click Windows Firewall tab. In Windows Vista, click Windows Firewall tab, Change Settings, and then Continue.

Step 5

Click the Exceptions tab.

Step 6

Click Add Program.

Step 7

Click the game name and then OK. Repeat this step for any other GameSpring games you have downloaded.

Step 8

Click OK.

Unblock GameSpring sites in your Internet browser settings

New versions of Internet Explorer have an option which allows you to block sites.  If you have blocked sites necessary to utilize the GameSpring service in your Internet browser settings, you will not be able to access the games.  To these sites, follow the steps below.

Step 1

Close any Internet browser windows that are open.

Step 2

Click Start, point to Settings, and click Control Panel. In Windows XP, click Start and then Control Panel. If the Control Panel window is empty, click View all Control Panel Options in the left section of the window to show all the Control Panel icons. In Windows Vista, click Start and then Control Panel, and Show all items.

Step 3

Double-click Internet or Internet Settings. In Windows XP and Windows Vista, you may need to first click Network and Internet Connections before clicking Internet Settings or Internet Options.

Step 4

Click the Privacy tab.

Step 5

In the Web Sites section, click Edit.

If you do not see a Web Sites section, click the Security tab. In the “Select a Web content zone to specify security settings, click the Restricted Sites icon and then Sites.

Step 6

Under Managed Web sites, locate the “zone.msn.com,” “msn.com,” or “zone.com” domain. Highlight the site and click Remove.  Repeat this step for “live.com,” “passport.net,” “gamehouse.com,” “downloads.gamehouse.com.”

Step 7

Once these sites are removed, click OK.

Step 8

Click OK to close Internet Options.

Open ports in your firewall

If you are running a firewall or connecting through a proxy server, make sure you open the correct ports to play the games.

80 (To access MSN Games – required for all games.)

443 (To use your MSN Games account sign-in option.)
