“Cookies must be allowed” error

Windows XP Pro and Windows 2000 systems

You will need to be signed into the computer with an account that allows you to make system changes in order to install game software. Please contact the computer’s owner or your IT department if you need assistance logging in with this type of account.

Check the system clock

This problem usually occurs if the date or time on your system clock has been changed. To check your computer’s system clock time and date, follow these steps.

Step 1

Close any programs or windows that are open.

Step 2

Click Start, point to Settings, and click Control Panel. In Windows XP, click Start and then Control Panel.

If the Control Panel window is empty, click View all Control Panel Options in the left section of the window to show all the icons.

Step 3

Double-click Date/Time to open the Date and Time Properties window.

Step 4

Make sure the date and time match the current date and time. If the date is incorrect, click the correct date to change it. Click the drop-down arrow by the month to change the month to the correct month. Click the up or down list box arrows by the year to select the correct year.

Step 5

Click the Time Zone tab.

Step 6

Make sure the correct time zone is selected in this window. To change the current time zone, click the drop-down arrow by the current time zone and select your time zone.

Step 7

If you made any changes, click Apply.

Step 8

Click OK.

Reset Security Settings

This problem will also occur if cookies are disabled in your Internet browser. The quickest way to enable cookies for your Internet browser is to reset your computer system’s Security or Privacy settings to the default system settings. Delete Cookies

This problem may also occur if cookies that are needed to play on MSN Games have become corrupt. To learn how to remove these cookies, view the following support article.

Once you delete cookies, connect to the Internet again and try signing in to your MSN Games account

Sign in at the Windows Live™ ID site

For security reasons, your sign in cookies expire after a certain amount of time. If you are trying to log in to MSN Games using a shortcut, this error may occur. Try going directly to the Windows Live ID site and sign in with your MSN Games account information.

Step 1

Go to http://www.live.com  

Step 2

Click Sign In and sign in with your MSN Games account information.

Step 3

If you do not receive the error, type http://games.msn.com in the Address bar and press Enter to return to MSN Games.

If you receive the error, click go to http://support.live.com and click Windows Live ID in the list of Standard Services.
