| And the award goes to…
Since I’ve had a lot of time to myself the past few days, it gave me the chance to reflect on 2008. Yes, it’s been a bit rough in spots but I think it has been a great year of games. So, in honor of this great year, I decided to present awards to the best of the best. I was trying to think of a clever name for these awards. The Gameys? The MSNies? The Coffees? The Moxies…hmmm… maybe… Nevermind! I’ll just get to the awards! Drum roll please!
Best Web Game – Flowerz! This cute and addictive game has been my favorite by far and it seems to have won over our audience as well! Best Download Game – Jewel Quest III! The Jewel Quest games keep getting better! If they release a fourth I may never leave my computer… Best GameSpring Game – Peggle Nights! I couldn’t pick two for best Download game so Peggle Nights got this honor. We released almost 100 GameSpring subscription games this year so there was a lot of great competition but the peg-blasting Peggle Nights came out on top! Best Badge – This was a tough one because I love them all…but my favorite was… the Chuzzle Guzzle badge for Chuzzle! Those of you who have it are very lucky! Maybe it will show up in Best of Badges sometime soon. Best Messenger game – World Championship Diving! This game took awhile for me to get the hang of but once my fingers caught on I was on my way to the gold! Best New Feature – Chess and Hexic Facebook applications! I’m finally making my way up the Hexic leader board and it feels good! Best Trivia Game - Spy Trivia! The new 007 may not have been perfect but my knowledge of spy thrillers sure is. Best Actress in a Game – Jill in Cake Mania 3! She traveled through time in order to get to her wedding day! How could she NOT win? Best Actor in a Game – Dr. Lynch in Dr. Lynch: Grave Secrets! He is a super sleuth that is not easily spooked. Best Ensemble Cast in a Game – The borbs in Bubble Town! Cute enough that you almost feel bad blasting them around the game board! Best Fan Site – The 1000 Badges Club! They can now change their name to the 2000 Badges Club but it just isn’t as catchy!
Even though 2008 was a great gaming year, I’m really looking forward to 2009! We have some exciting things in store including games featuring one of my favorite literary heroines, a whole new messenger (which you can now try in beta), and some very cool changes in the world of badges. So there won’t be any post-holiday glum from this girl! I am ready for 2009! | |
