| Looks like the dealer has dealt you some good cards. However, the dealer's face-up card is looking pretty good as well. What do you do? Do you take your chances and take a hit? Or do you stand? Here are some tips.
You have a pair of 2s or 3s: You should split these hands if the dealer shows a 4, 5, 6, or 7. In all other cases, just hit.
You have a total of 10 or less and the dealer shows a 7 or higher: Your best play is to take a hit and try to better your hand.
You have a total of 11: You should double down regardless of the dealer's up card.
You have a total of 10: You should double down against any up card the dealer has, unless it's a 10 or an Ace, in which case just hit.
You have a total of 12 - 16 and the dealer shows a 7 or higher: Your best play is to take a hit and try to better your hand.
You have hard 17 or higher: Your best play is to stand regardless of the dealer's up card.
You have soft 17 Your best play is to hit and hope to increase your hand, regardless of the dealer’s up card.
You have soft 18 and the dealer has a 10 showing Your best play is to hit. The worst card you can be dealt is a 4 (giving you 12) and you can always take another card. There is no card that can bust your hand. | |
